Finding YOUR Summer

Flip flops. Homemade ice cream. Swimming pools. Fresh fruits and veggies. Forgive us for waxing nostalgic for a moment, but summertime just does that to us, doesn’t it? It seems to bring on a sense of boundless possibilities and freedom. Plus this year, we have the added excitement of the Summer Olympics, GO U-S-A!

First, there’s the allure of summer adventures. You can’t think of summer without thinking of travel and checking out new destinations like beach vacations, camping in the woods, and r-o-a-d t-r-i-p-s!  There’s nothing like driving down a scenic route with the windows rolled down and music turned up. Getting there is always half the fun, right?

And there are all those festivals. From music to wine and food to art and cultural festivals, if you can’t find a festival you like, you aren’t trying very hard.  

Summertime is also a time to rediscover the simple pleasures of life like picnics and barbeques, swimming, gardening, and reading. And how about star gazing? Those clear summer nights, lying on a blanket and looking up at the stars. What a peaceful and meditative way to put things into perspective!  

Reconnecting with family and friends during summer at family reunions or community social outings just brings everybody closer, and gosh darn it, creates some great lasting memories too.

Maybe, just maybe, a favorite part of summer is being able to take advantage of the slower pace of the season for a little reflection. Maybe reassess some goals, plan for the future, or just make some positive changes.  Summer is the perfect backdrop to do all these things!
