Are Your Labels Ready for Summer?

By Al the Label Guy

What’s a pool party without a refreshing cold beverage? What’s a backyard BBQ without ketchup? What’s a family get-together without Aunt Lucy’s famous black bean salad? And what would Taco Tuesday be this summer without the right seasonings? No fun is the right answer!

So, if you have great products that go hand-in-hand with summertime festivities, now is the time to make sure your product labels are summer-ready. But what does summer-ready mean? Well, everything from making sure your label can stand up to heat and water.

Heat-resistant

Warm weather temps play a big role when it comes to choosing the right type of label for your products. After all, the point of the label is to get your brand seen and purchased. If your products are going to be consumed or used outdoors during the summer, you want to make sure the label will hold up against those intense UV rays to prevent fading.

Also, the heat can cause label adhesives to break down and they’ll start to peel off. Nobody wants to see a naked ketchup bottle.

Water-resistant

Let’s say your brand is icy cold beverages that will be consumed by a refreshing pool or lake, then your product labels should be water-resistant. For one, all the splashing that goes on—as well as wet hands on the bottle—will get your labels wet. And two, ice cold beverages need to live a life in and out of a cooler. All of which will test the limits of your label’s adhesion and durability.

If you have a brand that’s popular in the summer, here’s a quick recap of label must-haves you’ll want to consider:

  • The adhesive should be strong and remain intact.
  • The print on the label should remain legible even when it’s wet.
  • The material should be water and humidity-resistant.
  • The finish should be durable enough for rough handling.
  • The design should be enticing to get picked over the competition.

Picking the right label for your summer product packaging is a combination of the right adhesive and materials that will protect the integrity of your design. And that’s what we are great at!
